Suffering
Share
We all suffer. Irritatingly and recurringly throughout our lives.
I have been suffering for the past 4 years. Physically, mentally and spiritually. It’s not always equally unbearable, it comes and goes. Almost like it has a mind of its own.
Maybe it has?
When we suffer it’s uniquely ours, and ours alone. It has root systems sometimes originating before birth, getting all tangled up in newly formed ones. It becomes embedded in parts of our bodies, in the essence of us. And unnoticed it sits there, feeding from us and sometimes even providing us with a way to deal with it all. Horribly and beautifully living inside us. Whispering lies.
But….
What if we decide to stop listening to the whispers?
Can we stop eating and drinking from those roots?
What will happen if every day we stubbornly and willfully whisper beautiful kind words back at them, into our broken parts?
Can it then become possible for us to stop being so cruel to our own souls?
We were created by God to be beautiful, majestic beings. We have everything we need to become who we were meant to be inside us, written into our DNA, engraved on our hearts.
What if we start finding those parts and listening to their whispers instead?
1 Peter 5:10
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
